FREE ARTS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Free Arts Mentorship Program restores hope, resiliency and self-esteem in children through an 8-week creative arts program facilitated by trained adult mentors. Programs are delivered to children on-site at different partner locations across Los Angeles, which include housing projects, homeless shelters, community centers and other agencies serving disadvantaged children. Free Arts Mentors use an 8-week long curriculum to engage students in art projects designed to foster creativity, self-expression, self-esteem and positive socialization with the end goal of building long-term resilience through adversity in their communities. The Free Arts Mentorship program serves nearly 1,000 children per year. To learn more about the mentorship experience and get involved, click here.

FREE ARTS COURT PROGRAM

Free Arts for Children’s Court uses arts and crafts to engage children waiting to appear and testify at Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Courthouse, in order to prevent the formation of new trauma through the judicial system. Free Arts has partnered with this children’s courthouse since 1992 to provide volunteer-based art programming to children who have been victims of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness throughout Los Angeles County. Trained volunteers not only maintain a safe and creative space for self expression via our curriculum based programs, but also spearhead art projects designed to foster creativity, boost self- esteem, and build positive social interactions with children who would otherwise have no other positive outlets. Currently, this program is provided on a quarterly basis.
